Hello,
I was going through the thread "Career switch from Engineering to Quantitative Finance" and it brought me to your reply. I think you made a great point and was wondering if you could give me some advice.
I did my MS in Comp Sci couple of years back and have been working as a software engineer(networking). I have no financial background but I have always been interested in finance. I have been thinking of making the transition from pure IT to IT in a financial firm and eventually to pure finance.
I agree with your statement that my first transitional step should be to find a front office developer job . As a recruiter do you usually look for people with financial background when you hire someone for this position. In my case I have none. Do you think a CFA would help me in this regard ? Or is there any other course/classes you would recommend.
Your help/advice will be greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
George
