C++ Programming for Financial Engineering

The assignment are challenging and fun. They are the real drivers of the learning in the course. Had fun actually doing them.The final assignment should’ve been more derivative and less computational. It would really introduce us well to the financial side. Not a pessimistic critique, but new videos and re recording would improve the videos. Udemy provides similar stuff for literally 10$.

I think this course is really helpful and provides lots of insight into not only C++ programming but also its application to Computational Finance.

I think the quality of this course is great. This class meets my goal of learning C++.

The course has very high quality and provides me with a chance to have a very solid understanding of C++ languages and help me a lot to step into the quantitative finance industry. This course fulfilled my initial goal of preparing for my graduate studies in Computational Finance and my career search to become a Quant thereafter. I feel confident in my abilities to successfully code in C++ both in my courses as well as in future job interviews.

This course served its purpose pretty well-- it did enable people who has no experience with c++, like me, to gain a solid understanding of the most important basic concepts in c++.
I give it 4/5 because some questions in the homework are pretty old --some typos have not yet been corrected. However, I really appreciate how quickly A.Palley and Gong Chen replied to our questions--that helper A LOT. Also, many questions have already been asked by previous students, so that I could look at the answers instead of asking them again. Other than that, the quizzes are tricky, so they enhanced my understanding of the concepts a lot.
After taking this course, I'm confident enough to say I understand all C++ basic concepts well , can design a simple hierarchy of classes and am able to debug the code snippets by myself. I appreciate the value brought by this course.

Great course. I've definitely learned a lot in the process. The TA and the forum have both been super helpful and responsive. The homework is challenging enough to really encourage students to think through the concepts and their proper implementation.

I’m a finance major with a math minor, and the goal of taking this course is to apply for financial engineering programs. I made it this summer so I think the course is pretty helpful.

I come from a software development background, but have been out of touch with hard-core development for nearly 5 years now. I wish to get back to development especially Quant Dev. As such the C++ programming for FE has been a very good course for me to refresh my C++ fundamentals and has helped me to build a very strong base for learning the more advanced concepts of Modern C++. The accompanying exercises are the most valuable parts of the course as without proper hands-on pratice exercises, understanding the concepts would have been very difficult. The forums for each exercise were very helpful and insightful. The TA support was impressive as well.

This course indeed gives me a detailed overview of the essentials of C++ and give me an introduction of how C ++ can be applied to quantitative finance. Really a good course.

The course is a really good intro course which gave me a structured learning experience about C++ programming.

It is a very good experience! The only thing that I think can improve is the media player software, it would be better if we can adjust the speed when we watch the course video.

This course gives me the fundamental concept of c++ which helps me understand the use of c++ for computational financial application. The quality of the materials and course is well written and easy to understand for c++ beginner.

The course is excellent as a whole, especially Level 9, which is rather difficult but extremely useful I guess. It involves multiple financial applications. I think the course well meets my original goal (learning polymorphism, template, STL, Boost, etc.)
