Hello, I am a second year student looking for some general input on my opportunities based on my current educational track.
I am pursuing a dual degree at a ~t20 school with a major in CS, as well as a BBA (focus in finance) with a minor in pure mathematics. I plan to take 16 credits on machine learning and quantitative computing, and use my math minor for 9-10 credits financial math and probability courses.
I’ve also done some other work like starting a quant club to create project teams, put up a few personal projects on git, etc.
Looking to maybe complete a CS honors thesis or senior research project my last semester. Not sure where my gpa will be when I graduate but I would guess in the range 3.5-3.7.
What kind of opportunities might I have for summer internships, jobs, etc. based on my qualifications? Will I need to do a masters or is there a chance of being hired directly out of undergrad? I’m just trying to figure out where to set my expectations and to identify any weaknesses I might have to work on, so any input is very much appreciated.
