I know that D.E.Shaw himself is designing dedicated ASIC (application specific integrated circuits) for computing, he presented a keynote at the 2008 Microarchitecture conference, I was just wondering whether banks have used any hardware computing systems, or interested in using them?
It's much fast than any software implementations. For example, the Black-Scholes call/put option price only takes 26 cycles to compute in hardware, If the ASIC runs at 1GHz, that's 26ns.
