I want to start trading derivatives for my personal account. I searched in reading list, but couldnt find a book for intutive understanding. I have the Hull's derivatives book, but would like a book more geared towards trading

Are you searching for derivatives in general? Or particular sort of derivatives trading book. My university uses many useful books which are adopted by IBs in Georgia but you should state which derivative instruments you are interested in. They have a big range of credit derivatives trading.

@Tsotne Thanks, for the books , should be a great learning . I am looking more material towards index and stock futures and options. I havent tried the other derivatives instruments you mentioned.

@marina. Thanks, went through the reviews of the book, seems extremely amazing.

Ok then I'll search for those materials at the university library and get some advices from professor. I'm having the general derivatives course in this semester. And he'll suggest some good book.

@Siddharth Singh

These books are at stock of my university library and the first two have strongly been suggested by the professor for studding purposes. I haven't had an experience with studding index trading books so I cannot state my personal opinion. The first book (pointed on the first link) is the one they teach MBA with. He suggested for trading studies. Since you are interested in equity and index futures trading, the first book: "Risk based approach to futures" is preferable.

@Siddharth Singh you will not make any money reading these books
Which university recommends these books to their MBA students? must be tier-4 or tier-5 MBAs read these books

This is a very good book (which I suggested) to learn what Saddhearth asked for. Have you looked through the contents??? And the above suggestion of the book "Options as a Strategic Investment-Lawrence-McMillan" has nothing to do with index or equity forwards trading.

Here are the contents and let's see:
Options as a Strategic Investment-Lawrence-McMillan
PART 1: Basic Properties of Stock Options and Definitions

PART 2: Call Option Strategies
Covered Call Writing
Call Buying
Naked Call Writing
Ratio Call Writing
Bull Spreads
Bear Spreads
Using Call Options
Calendar Spreads
The Butterfly Spread
Ratio Call Spreads
Combining Calendar and Ratio Spreads
Reverse Spreads
Diagonalizing a Spread

PART 3: Put Option Strategies
Put Option Basics
Put Option Buying
Put Buying in Conjunction with Common Stock Ownership
Buying Puts in Conjunction with Call Purchases
The Sale of a Put
The Sale of a Straddle
Synthetic Stock Positions
Created by Puts and Calls
Basic Put Spreads
Spreads Combining Calls and Puts
Ratio Spreads Using Puts
LEAPS
PERCs

PART 4: Additional Considerations
Buying Options and Treasury Bills
The Best Strategy?
Arbitrage
Mathematical Applications

PART 5: Index Options and Futures
Introduction to Index Option Products and Futures
Stock Index Hedging Strategies
Index Spreading
CAPS
Mathematical Considerations for Index Products
Futures and Futures Options
Futures Options
Strategies for Futures Spreads
Advanced Concepts
Taxes

Appendices:
A: Strategy Summary
B: Equivalent Positions
C: Formulae
D: Graphs
E: Qualified Covered Calls

Take a look at the fifth part with deals with index options and futures. If you review that part actually in the book you will see not a single concern with trading of index or equity futures in that part. Just explanations and introduction what these instruments are and some hedging strategies using them which was not actually asked. And "Trading with confluence-Risk based approach to equity index futures walks through the index and equity futures TRADING, not explaining or introducing what those are.

Instead of looking at the table of contents, please read the 80 customer reviews and look at their ratings.
The original poster wants to make money, not gain some knowledge on options.

But he needs to make money or not with the index futures and equity futures. The book seems irrelevant for that issue. That's why I provided the table of contents. I'll post the drama how to make money where gangsters are robbing banks, one way to make money right? So do not look into the contents and start reading it. I'm not making the comparison of course but this book is a bit irrelevant for index and equity futures. There are other ways to make money also. So you advised to switch to options and drop the mentioned fields. I searched for the book covering the materials the poster wants and the rest is up to him, whether he makes money or just gains a knowledge simply.
