Hey guys,
Just wanted to know what do you think about the chances of a non-US citizen graduating from an unknown university in Central Europe to get a quant interview/job in the US/UK

I cannot tell from experience, (student as well), but if you cannot get in the usual way, maybe in an other way, starting free lance or something, think out of the box. I read somewhere one of the largest algorithmic traders on the Eurex was in central Europe, Prague I believe.

tfors is on the right track.

Find out exactly what job function you would like to do and then get the low paying function right below it. Even "mid-office" so long as you are in proximity. Be part of the conversations at work, offer viable solutions, and let your desires known. I'm not very old nor have I been in the business very long; but I have seen this work (and have done it myself to some extent ;) )
