Hey there,

as I got admitted to both of the mentioned programs a decision has to be made.

1. Bostons program: There is plenty of useful information online about class sizes, employment report and so on. In my opinion it is a solid program.

2. Chicagos program: Unfortunately there is barely any information regarding class sizes, employment reports, and similar. I was hoping that some of you guys can share some experience of Chicagos program.

3. Having more information of both: Which program would you rate as better? I know in the quantnet ranking they rank the same but in my opinion the reputation of the UoC in total is probably stronger than BU. It also seems like tuition for UoC has increased immensely caused by the new curriculum. My calculations say its 80000 which seems very high. Another source on their page says 50k. Any infos here?

I would really appreciate your help and since others got admits to both of the programs I think this might be valuable info for many more than just me. I need to make this decision soon since I am going on backpacking trip and wont have access internet most of the time.

Thank you guys

Timo

Chicago tuition will be about 62,300 + fees. My calcluations are just under 70K. I believe Chicago is highly underrated. My thought is go for Chicago. How much is tuition at BU?

Thanks for your input. I saw your status Artur and see that you were admitted to Chicago aswell.
How did you calculate these 62,300? BU pure tuition is around 40k. My first thought would have been Chicago as well. Just not sre about the money spent since they also dont have a reliable source about employment and similar things.

I also admitted in BU. 40k seems for one year. Total tuition would be 60k or so.
I admitted in Chicago too. However, no latest info about this program on Quantnet and little info about placement of students posted on its website. I am also afraid that the curriculum is to theoretical rather than practical.
Do you have made your final decision?

Why do you think Chicago is underrated? Director and students in BU seems to think that they are underrated too.
I was confused and don't know what to choose.

I called chicago. The new curriculum will be 11 units minimum. Each unit is $5700 and plus insurance and fees about 70k.

I see. I assume that this is only possible if you test out of the Computing for finance series (I-III) and save these 17.1k. Then one has to take into consideration if the program wouldnt lose its quality through that as this series seems pretty important for programming

I think it assumes testing out regular Finance, not sure about Comp Finance. But Nina (from admissions) said that the curriculum page is not accurate at this point....

I'm not fully decided but I don't see MIT above Chicago by a large margin. Definately Chicago is better than BU, in my opinion. Chicago is #1 school in Economics, #2 in Finance and #5 in Math. It has very good reputation...
