Considering a career change: aerospace engineering to quantitative trading and the pros and cons of studying in the US vs UK

Hey guys,

I just finished my aerospace engineering degree as an international student in the UK. I applied to UIUC for their Ms in aerospace engineering program in the US and have received an offer. However, lately, I've been considering pursuing a career as a quantitative trader. I'm now contemplating whether I should apply to UK universities that offer financial programs such as Warwick, Manchester, UCL, or Imperial.

Here are my thoughts:
  • The US has more job opportunities in trading than the UK, which makes it a more attractive option for me.
  • If I go to the UK, I can enrol in a direct program that focuses solely on financial studies.
  • Compensation is unclear to me.
P.S. US universities tend to be more expensive than those in the UK, which is something I cannot afford at the moment.

If you have any tips on course enrolment that could make my application stronger, I would greatly appreciate it!
