recently i have come across the quantitative finance career path and became very interested, this is what i have always wanted to do but did now know how to what the career path was called. I always thought the closest i could get to it was by becoming either an actuary or a financial analyst. So ever since i graduated in January from Baruch, i have been trying to get a job (with little success) as an actuary or as a financial analyst.
Ive taken the first to exams (financial math and prob) and am taking exam mfe in a couple weeks. I graduated with a 3.467 overall gpa and a 3.84 (finance) major gpa. I feel pretty comfortable with financial engineering and from what i have seen it is something that can interest me and that i can easily understand.
I understand that admissions at Baruch are getting exponentially more competitive, but i still am very interested in getting a mfe degree from it soon. Do i have a chance at it? I regretfully did not do any internships during my undergrad and am having little success finding work now, but i do want to follow a quantitative career path.
If i have a chance, what should be my next step toward admission into baruchs mfe program?
