Hi

I had third round telephone interview last thursday with BB (MS, GS, JP) for quant internship and I made a terrible calculation mistake at the last question.
The question was to tell what is the most probable outcome after throwing 6 Times in a row a coin with P(HEAD)=0.3. i did well until I calculated 6 chose 3 = 20 but i said 60 !! How could i do that !!? The interviewer didnt point out my mistake and thus I got a wrong answer. The rest of the interview happened very well but there were not too many questions.
I would say I have almost 0 chances to make it to the nest round.... :(

What would you say regardîng your expérience as an interviewee or an interviewer ?

Yes it could matter I think.

It would be nice to know if such a mistake could sometime not involve a straight rejection.
I am aware that in a quant interview such questions are asked to test the candidate "resistance to stress", if he can do correct calculations etc...

Considering it was my third round interview and I did well during the rest of the interview. But well....

Take it easy. Do not spend your time worrying about something you can't do anything about. No one except the interviewer knows whether you are in or out.
