How to get research experience with professors?

Hi, I am a senior in high school and have been dealing with investing for 3 years and quant finance for 1 year. I really want to get some research experience and help a professor/PhD student/postdoc with a paper in this field. I have already collected a list of professors from top schools.

How do I go about this process? How do I contact the professor? What should I look for in a professor? How can I better prepare for a research project (e.g. go through textbooks)?

Any suggestions would be immensely helpful.

Wait until you are in college and have taken the required pre req math courses, and wait until you find a professor at the college you are attending in which their research interests you. You can reach out earlier to be on their radar while you are working on the pre-reqs.
I admire your enthusiasm and dedication.

Thanks. I will definitely do this in college, but I am set on achieving it now. Would you still give any relevant tips for my age/level?
