Dear members of quantnet,
I got an offer from UCB MFE programe and one of its conditions is to successfully complete coursework in Partial Differential Equations. The problem is that all the online courses or courses at any accredited institution are annual. I have only 4 months and, thus, I am going to have an intensive course with private teacher. However, I did not find any detailed enough syllabus of this course. Due to the fact that I have very little time, I need to have clear understanding of the topics to focus on and not spend time on topics that I won't use later at the programe. The description of this course on the website of the programe is formulated as follows:
"Classification of second order equations, boundary value problems for elliptic and parabolic equations, initial value problems for hyperbolic equations, existence and uniqueness theorems in simple cases, maximum principles, a priori bounds, the Fourier transform"
Does anybody know what particular topics should be covered in this course (more detailed than above description)? May be someone has similar experience? Maybe someone has the syllabus of his undergraduate partial differential equations course that suffice the MFE prerequisite and can share?
I am highly motivated to enter this programe and I am ready to do my best in the shortest time. So I will be very grateful to any help or advice.
