Thanks Pat.

There is a link there to some data trying to find correlation between the finish in the prologue of the major cycling tours and the final placement. This seems really interesting, at least for the cycling fan (me :).

If you look at the Tour de France since '91, you will see that the winner is usually somebody who is a good Time Trialist (like the prologue) so I think there should be some correlation. The only exception was Marco Pantani in '98. Il Pirata was a natural climber that's how he conquered the competition. The rest (there are not that many in that period), Indurain (5 time champion), Ulrich, Riis, Armstrong (7 time champion) and whoever won the last one (either Landis or Pereiro, the judge is still out there), where better time trialist than climbers.

Well, I guess you're not the only cycling fan here (or only frenchie?)
Besides my job, I have been racing triathlons for 15 years, several years cat 1 in cycling. So, maybe we can open a cycling sub-forum somewhere?

Btw...the data are skewed because it doesn't distinguish real prologues (under 8km) from 'fake' ones (longer than 8km).

Thanks Pat.
