Hello all!

My name is Vadim. Since we already have RussianMax in the forum I am RussianVadim . Math, Finance and Programming are three fields that I like the most that is why I’m really excited to study at Financial Engineering program. I’m sure that we will be a strong team and enjoy studying and being together!

Ufa State Aviation Technical University – Russia. Diploma with Honors of Master’s Degree of Applied Math and Software Engineering.

I applied for full time program.
According to the description of the program, the study will start in the beginning of the June. Is refresh courses must?

The real program starts in late Aug but for most of us, it starts in June with the refresher courses. Are you they must ?
Let put it this way: when I entered the program last year, I didn't think it was a must and I tried to skip it. I'm glad I did not even though I had to pay a good chunk of money for it. I had an opportunity to refresh my memory, get to know my classmates, the school, etc

Every incoming student will be given a chance to take it or take a pass-out exams. The choice is theirs to make.

Some of us will retake the refresher again this summer so they can better prepare for the courses. There will be some new materials every year and if I have time, I'd like to sit in those class as well.

Vadim, you seem to have lot of questions. Keep them coming

Refresher courses are highly recommended and sometimes required as part of your admission. A lot of the material covered in them is assumed known before classes start. They each cover math, finance, and C++. These courses prepare you for what you will experience day 1 in the program.

Andy, agree 100%. I think the best thing to do is to use every opportunity to learn more. Plus, whatever you learn always keep the notes so you can get back to them when needed in later courses.
