Need a List of financial firms

I am a Ph.D candidate in Financial Economics and attempting to apply for jobs in financial industry. I am not very familiar with the firms other than famous Investment Banks. But it seems that there are lots of openings in other firms specially from buy side. Could someone help me to find a list of these firms or kindly point me a direction? Thanks a lot.
