I got admission for the MSc in Software Engineering course but wanted to check a couple of things.
1. The course is part time so that I could fund it while working (and therefore will take me 2 years instead of 1). Will I be looked 'down' upon because of this?
2. The modules covered in this degree are also covered in their Computer Science masters (except you choose less when full time). They are also adding a machine learning module which I am keen to take (currently the only difference between Computer Science and this degree). Does Software Engineering look 'softer' though as both degrees are run by the same department?
3. My undergrad was in Statistics, Masters will be in Software Engineering and I use Python/R/SQL in my current analytics / data science type role (but trying to do more in Python including machine learning projects, dashboards etc). Will I be set up for quant roles or am I still missing something?
4. Will I need to leave my full time job and intern at a bank / similar to get a quant role or a full time transition will be possible? I work in the internet/technology space (not in IT) but I'm worried FO professionals will view me as an IT guy.
