Hi guys, Take a look at this course, I'm looking at it from the angel of a prep for a MFE degree.

http://iiqf.org/courses/financial-engineering/PGPFE.pdf

The +tives I see -

  • Its part time so I can do this while working
  • It helps me certify the things I already know in quant finance (stochastic calc, measure changes, etc..)
  • It helps socialize
The -tives I see -
  • No detailed info on the faculty teaching this course
  • Its not cheap ( about 5.2k USD)
Considering I'm going to be taking 2 weeks of from work and going for summer school in london (here - http://www2.lse.ac.uk/study/summerSchools/summerSchool/courses/accountingAndFinance/AF360.aspx )
and do the online C++ certification from here.
will this course really help in improving my profile for MFE admissions ?

They dont teach advanced stuff is what I know from friends who have taken their program. they dont stick to advanced content they promise.

Hi shivgan did your friends take their pgpfe program that they conduct in mumbai that i am referring to or some of the other programs that i see they also offer? would appreciate your reply.

My friend had attended one of their math finance courses and was quite appreciative of the program and them.

i am planning to join their applied mathematical finance program that they conduct in mumbai next month, got good feedback about this one from my friend who had attended an earlier batch... rigorous curriculum... good faculty. now he got through into MFE in US

Hey, so I am taking the course (PGPFE) and its really quite good. The teachers have been engaging and the class is quite small 7-8 people.

I was initially concerned about the content being over simplified but to my pleasant surprise it is far from basic. (Unless you consider measure theory, copulas, bayesian statistics, multi linear regression, finite element analysis basic) we haven't started stochastic calculus as of yet but I'll surely put up a detailed review of the program here on the website once I'm finished.

my friend who had attended an earlier batch of their AMFE course also had said the same thing as sahil, he told me that it is the most advanced and rigorous course in financial engineering / quantitative finance offered in india.

Hi, guys.. I agree with Vivek. Even one of my relative did their FRM cource and later joined PGPFE prog. He is now with Nomura.. Got a good feedback from him. He said that their content is quite good and their faculties are from Industry and probably the best that you can get here in India...

Planning to join their next batch..!!
