When applying to an MFE program, should I try and take the GRE Subject Test in Math?

v

So I should not worry about it since I am a math major?

I have another question, my second major is cognitive science, and in it, I have a relatively very low gpa, 3.21, that I truly have no desire to raise. Will this in any way negatively affect my application to an MFE program? Or, could/should I include an explanation to clarify my disappointment and, eventual, disinterest in the field?

You don't take it if it's not required.
Any unwillingness to strive for the best is always a negative under any circumstance. General advice: unless the GPA is the only bad spot on your otherwise outstanding profile, don't bother explaining. I'm not going to waste my time reading it if I have other several hundred applications to read next. It will do more harm than good.
