The Financial Engineering Program at Baruch College offers a Pre-MFE Program for people interested in pursuing graduate studies in financial engineering, as well as for finance practitioners interested in studying the mathematical fundamentals behind financial models.

Note: All the 2021-2022 Pre-MFE seminars
will be offered online, via Zoom
. The times are 7-10pm New York time. For the first time, there is no need to be physically located in New York to take these seminars.

Registration is now open and enrollment in each seminar is limited to 40 students.

October - December 2021
Pre-MFE online seminars
(The Pre-MFE Program at Baruch College):
- Advanced Calculus with Financial Engineering Applications (October 20 – December 15, 2021; on-line, syllabus attached)
- Probability Theory for Financial Applications (October 19 – December 14, 2021; on-line, syllabus attached)

Registration Process: The seminars are offered in the evenings on an eight session schedule, each session being four hours long: 7-10pm Lecture, 10-11pm Review Session

- a one page statement detailing your career and educational goals, as well as how the Pre-MFE Program seminars align with those goals
- indicate the seminar(s) for which you intend to register

An Information Session for the Baruch Pre-MFE Program will take place on Tuesday, October 12, 7pm NY time. Professors Ivan Matic and Rados Radoicic, the instructors of the Fall 2021 Pre-MFE seminars, and Professor Dan Stefanica, the director of the Baruch MFE-Program will answer questions and provide further information on all of our programs.

Note: All the Pre-MFE seminars will be offered online, via Zoom. The times are 7-11 pm New York time; three-hour lecture followed by a one hour review session.

There is no need to be physically located in New York to take these seminars. Last year, our Pre-MFE students came from Asia, Europe, North America, and South America.

The program will be offered online this year. While there are still seats, students should send in their resume and one page statement right away since the seminar will start on Wednesday next week.
 
Right now, the website says Registration is closed for Jan-March 2022 cohort. Is it because they haven't opened yet or because the seats have been filled?
 
Registration is now open for the Spring 2022 seminars. All the seminars will be virtual.

Schedule: Eight sessions:
- Lecture from 7-10pm (taught by the instructor)
- Review Session from 10-11pm (taught by the teaching assistants)
Each seminar concludes with a Final Exam.
These seminars are not offered online. They take place on location at Baruch College, in Midtown Manhattan.

Registration Process: Enrollment is limited to 40 people in each seminar. To apply for enrollment, send an email to baruch.mfe@baruch.cuny.edu with the following documents:
  • a current version of your resume
  • a one page statement detailing your career and educational goals, as well as how does taking seminars in the Pre-MFE Program align with those goals
  • indicate which seminar(s) you intend to register for
Certifications:
  • For each seminar, a Certificate of Completion will be issued upon passing the final exam and obtaining a 70% or higher average.
  • For each seminar, a Certificate of Completion with Distinction will be awarded to students with a 90% or higher average.
  • Upon successfully completing all three seminars of the Pre-MFE Program with a higher than 70% average, a Certificate of Completion of the Pre-MFE Program will be issued.
  • A Certificate of Completion of the Pre-MFE Program with Distinction will be awarded to students who achieved a 90% or higher average in each of the three seminars.
