University of California, Los Angeles 2009 internship report

I have heard from talking to a couple of students at UCLA current MFE batch that only about 25% of the students had internship till about two weeks before the end of quarter leading to a mad scramble among the students. At this point one of the professors with good industry contacts jumps in and helps the rest of students get interviews. Finally UCLA wiped off it's sweat and was able to say that all it's graduates got an internship. I have never heard of this kind of support from professors or school in helping students find an internship but I still think it will take them some time to rise up to the popularity of UCB.

For a fledgling program like this, everything has to be in place: quality staff, attracting quality students, teaching of pertinent material, finding internships, and finding jobs. Otherwise the program will wither on the vine.
