    GameStop GME and WSB saga

If anything, I think this is a unique opportunity for more people to learn about complex financial products like options, hedging, shorting, margin, etc. The barrier to more people using such tools has been the perceived complexity and with social media, trading apps and finance forums where you...

    GameStop GME and WSB saga

There is a lot of FUD (fear, uncertainty and doubt) in the media driven by the short interest to distract people from buying GME. Such as an article saying GS warns there will be a systemic risk to the global market if short-driven hedge funds go bankrupt. Go figure. Robinhood is allowing...

    GameStop GME and WSB saga

It will be up to SEC to decide but from what I've seen so far, it's hard to say anything done illegally. A bunch of millennials, Robinhood retail traders decide to buy up a stock that is being shorted by many sophisticated big money funds. As a result, many of those shorts took a loss of several...

The reason why C++ is used as a filter for MFE admission is because it's a hard language and it will prepare you well for interviews and actual work on Wall Street. Quant -> Personal investment

That is correct. All the big firms have a compliance dept where you have to get approval for any personal trading activities. It may be easy to get an OK to buy and hold a blue chip stock. Now, the scramble is on for every school and programs to deal with this mess. I thought we dodged the bullet recently with the recently H1-B/OPT executive order but now it's another thing to worry about. It's election year so wouldn't be surprised that it's political motivated.
