Hi Andy, Dan and Baruch program coordinators,

I'm about to send my email to register for the Baruch Pre-MFE seminars. My GPA is very low like around 2 due to extenuating circumstances which happened during the pandemic. I do want to demonstrate my ability in excel in top programs now that I've recovered. I graduated from a top 15 University and a BS quantitative program. I wonder if I am admitted to all 3 of the pre-MFE seminars , and get distinction in all three seminars, and nail QBA and interviews, then will I have a chance to be admitted to Baruch at all? or does enrolling in the seminar is pretty much meaningless to me because when I read other discussions, people comment that if you have a below 3.0 GPA then your chances of getting into any top10 program is 1%......

Also, how much does scoring above 325 in GRE and strong LORs help in negating my low GPA for other top 10 MFE programs?
Can I submit my Baruch Pre-MFE seminars' transcript as completed accredited courses to other MFE program's application?
Let me know my best plan for now. I will do anything.

Thanks,
Jay

Yes, this is one of the reasons to take Pre-MFE seminars - show that the current level of your knowledge is higher than the grades in undergraduate courses.

Good luck!

Hello,
If you have a C in one of the math prereqs of B or higher at your 4 year university, then can you repeat the class in a community college for an A and send it in the application, even if your 4 year university does not put the course on your transcript?

Baruch Pre MFE doesn't provide transcripts from what I remember. You will have a certificate which mentions distinction if you achieved it. And can definitely be mentioned in your application. However, it won't come with an official transcript i believe.

I'm not talking about Pre MFE courses. I'm talking about the retaking of prereqs taken at a 4 year university where you got a C, because part of the application requirements for the MFE program is to have B or higher in those prerequisite courses.
