I was recently contacted about a quantitative finance internship at a cryptocurrency startup that is currently in stealth mode. The only thing I know is that the person who contacted me was from "Parametric Recruiting". Has anyone ever heard of them?

They probably fished your resume out of a database if you applied somewhere else before.
Is there any match in skill set and interest between you and the employer?

Nope. How long has this person been recruiting? Unless it's 10 years or more, I would be extremely skeptical (and if so, I'd still be somewhat skeptical). There are so many recruiters out there that are even more clueless than all the wannabe quants out there. But a large portion of them have a smart idea they undoubtedly learned from others, which is: spam everyone with lucrative seeming positions, hook one that manages to get through the company filters and gets the position, collect month or more of their salary. Just like the Viagra spam people, it only takes a few to make the whole enterprise worth it.

It can be as much as 4 - 6 months' worth of salary.
I agree, be very skeptical and don't believe everything they tell you (especially over the phone). There are some very good recruiters, but the recruiting industry is full of sleazy people trying to get a slice of the pie.
