I work in SF on an equity options desk. There's not a big draw for quant finance here, but there are some opportunities if you look carefully. There are a few prop firms and prop desks at hedge funds, if you're looking for a market-facing role. If you're ok staying in finance but perhaps not as intrinsically linked to markets, places like BlackRock and ratings agencies have a large presence here. If you're cool with applying a quant skillset outside of finance, there're tons of data science jobs in SF and the surrounding area. All in all, it's pretty good job market I'd say.
