Hi!

Next year I will finish my master degree in quant risk management. When applying to banks and funds which have entry-level positions and internships, what would you advise me to apply for? Some banks say I should definitely apply for a full time position, however, at the same time they say they hire only from their intern pool.

Note: I did some internships, but only for two small funds which are not known internationally.

Thanks!

What I know about this that you should complete you degree first as most of the time such companies( banks and etc) require good and eligible person with the degree. With out that you will always considered as intrener. It is also right that you should apply for the full time after getting the degree. It is the best way for you. Best of luck.

Another thing to consider is if you get hired while still in school you will likely come in at an Analyst level role. Even after graduation it might take as long as two years until you hit Associate. If you come as an intern and then graduate before hire you will most likely hit Associate right off the bat.

Just a thought.
