Tell me why you want to become a trader

he must have done something more than just make a video to get fired. when you're in finance, bottle service comes with the territory.

The videos are funny but it's a disturbingly sad fact about many people's perception of a career on Wall Street.
"I don't care. I want to be a trader" response from the first video seems to summarize a lot of people reason why they want to do MBA/MFE and become a trader.

- Billy wants the models and limousines, while I'm happy with hookers and taxicabs

it may be a sad fact that that's solely why many people want to be traders, but still the truth is traders do party. I've experienced it first-hand on many a trip to Chicago ;)

There are more trader meetings held at VIPs in Chicago than in the conference rooms.

Ehhh...my reason: quantitative decision making, and lots of it. It's the most wonderful game (in the mathematical sense of the word), and playing (and more importantly, being successful) is its own intrinsic reward.

And yes, models are nice. So long as you know the assumptions behind them, their limitations, and when you need to adjust for any inaccuracies.

The rewards come later with success. Become successful, and the rewards follow.
