US standard of living under siege

The critical flaw with that article:
Voluntary response bias.
It's not like the average American is going to fill out every piece of paper that gets sent into the mail. Only those that just need to RAAAAAAAAAAGE are going to put down their vitriol and put it down on that paper.
Are times bad? You better believe it. Is our standard of living going down? Mmm...for the short term, I'd say it's not improving.
However, that article is just far too gloom and doom.
