Not really as I'm on iPad 3
It's a strategic move by Apple to move people to the latest models. The next generation MBP will get rid of the existing MBP line towards all-retina line. That's the only way they can retain premium price while other PC machines keep dropping in prices with each upgrade.

I definitely agree it makes business sense. However, my iPad works just fine so it's aggravating that I'll have to upgrade purely to have the latest software, which I imagine could run on this device.
