I am a final-year BSc Physics student. Previously, I completed a BSc in Computer Science and an MSc in Quantum Computing.

My initial plan when switching to Physics was to pursue a PhD in Theoretical Physics, and I am currently waiting for the results to enter an MSc in Theoretical Physics at Oxbridge.

If I don’t get into those universities, I am considering shifting my career toward quantitative trading/research and leaving the PhD for the future if I decide to pursue it. This field also interests me because I studied and did some trading in the past (nothing major, just with some savings).

I believe my academic background is suitable for working in this field (my undergraduate thesis is research in an experimental area of the CMS at CERN), but I am also considering doing a master’s degree in this direction. Btw I have 8.93/10 in physics and 9.23/10 in cs in both a good university from Spain .

I have seen master’s programs at LSE (Maths finance) and IC(maths and finance) because oxford closed in January . How is the employment after this MSc? I have read that for ICL one the salary is like 120k.

If I dont get in those 2 msc are there any good msc in other countries (excluding US)? I have read about UCL computational finance and Warwick's one. I saw UCL Msc more programming focused instead of maths so I didn't think I'll apply to it as I really like doing maths (and I know tons of programming bc of my BSc in cs)and it's one of my reason to go to quant!

I have seen some summer internships in some crypto companies, do you think it will help me to then finding a job?

Thank you!

If you want to pursue this route, and you can swing Cambridge Part III: do it. It's the best in the UK by a large margin.

The French have good programs. Look into the M2 in Probability (aka El-Karoui).
I'll look at the french one. I've applied to part iii but for theoretical physics and it's already closed ... So I can't no longer apply this year, but imperial one is quite good, isn't it?

Btw what other route would you recommend? Just apply just for jobs?

Part iii has no “quant finance” track. If you get into part iii, nothing will stop you from taking stochastic calculus, advanced probability… which should give you some good background for quant jobs.

Yeah, I know but I believe that if I get into part iii I have to choose the subjects about theoretical physics. But I'll check if I get into it! Thanks!
